 ZABOU     Zabou is a French street artist based in London who has completed over 250 murals in 23 countries. zabou.me  official website. She travels and paints "to make the world a more colourful place, one wall at a time". Location: Woodgate Road, Forest Gate      This is the first of ten works by various artists commissioned by Newham Council in 2024.      The Jimi Hendrix Experience was actually the warm up band for The Pretty Things who failed to turn up and were replaced by John Lee Hooker. Charismatic former boxer Billy Walker's club only lasted one year. The last time I saw The Who it cost rather more than 17/6 - and ladies paid the same as gentlemen.   FOLD TOWN     For a few days Old Street Underground Station became Fold Street station thanks to a Samsung campaign to launch their Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 phones.       Samsung commissioned designer Jem Hughes to create the lamp post, bench and phone box next to Old Street Station.      Artist Caspar Philips was responsible for the bus sculpture placed near Spitalfields market. The vehicle was built mainly from recycled parts of real London buses.     Meanwhile, medallists at the Olympics are being handed Samsung flip phones to take podium selfies.

JULY 2024 UPDATES        Freedom Pass Wetherspoons Part 10   looks back at what I've achieved (which is questionable) and puts forward some ideas as to what's next (if anything). ------------------------------------------------------------      July 4-5:  In a busy couple of days I saw comedian Rhod Gilbert at the Fairfield Halls and visited the London Transport Museum Depot ...      Not many comedians could carry 90 minutes joking about cancer - masterful and hilarious.      The  London Transport Museum Depot  in Acton is where they store  the 320,000 items they don't have room for in the  London Transport Museum , Covent Garden. On a couple of weekends a year they have open days which are ticketed and well worth a visit. Allow plenty of time.      In between these two momentous events I had a Spoons breakfast in the George, Croydon. And we had a change of government ..... ...
