  London Mural Festival part 8 Thamesmead: Woskerski       Thamesmead provided the dystopian setting for the controversial movie A Clockwork Orange . And this underpass would be suitably bleak were it not for Woskerski's stunning new panorama - and earlier works including these two by  TRUST.iCON  ......          TRUST.iCON, identity unknown, actually hails from Thamesmead; but his images of cartoon characters highlighting social issues can be found all over London, Los Angeles and Berlin.     More near here .....       New Malden:     These three adjacent murals are, according to the Festival website, by Shine and Quest, Alex Cullen and Smote . But I can't work out which is which.     I do, however, recognise Choo Choo, Benny the Ball and Officer Dibble from Top Cat.   Farewell, The George, Wanstead ....     My local Wetherspoons closed on October 13. There has been a pub on this spot since 1716; and at least that will continue, with it reverting to it's original (pre-1904) name of The George and Dragon . So it's not all bad news; although I doubt if The George and Dragon will open much before noon.  And I'll certainly have to pay more than £1.79 for a pint of Ruddles. My nearest Spoons is now The Walnut Tree in Leytonstone which is only half a mile away so walkable (or one stop on the bus). Update: Squatters have moved in! I'm wondering if there is still beer on tap. Further update (2 days later): Squatters have gone. The rumour is they were not homeless but teenagers hoping for a payoff; and their parents were feeding them. London Mural Festival part 7 Shoreditch/Whitechapel : Shepard Fairey                                                      Sophie Mess       Here, in the epicentre of London Street Art, is a  late and welcome addition to the festival from Shepard Fairey. Entitled  Rise Above Earth Justice, it   is  supported by the U.S. Embassy and promotes climate awareness.  Shepard Fairey's unmistakable imagery includes the scales of justice to represent the fight for environmental justice and a healthier planet.
