      Soho Theatre Walthamstow - formerly the Grade II listed Granada Cinema, built in 1930. It has recently been refurbished and has some good stand-up booked including Frank Skinner and Al Murray, the Pub Landlord.

    Mural street artists often use brickwork as a grid when mapping out their creations. But, having been pebble dashed, this wall really was a blank canvas. "Her works frequently depict women with closed, introspective expressions, seemingly detached from their surroundings" (ChatGPT).
    Tima's artwork is close to the former Walthamstow home of William Morris, now a splendid gallery/museum honouring him .....

    Morris knew a thing or two about decorating walls and would surely have approved of the many fine murals in this area, including Atma's portrait of him - with his wallpaper in the background - overlooking the car park.

    God's Own Junkyard is a neon museum in an industrial estate in Walthamstow. It is a unique gem with the collection of signs providing a stunning backdrop for afternoon tea in the Rolling Scones Café. It also doubles up as a pub. Opening hours vary so check the website before visiting.

Chris Bracey by Atma Studio
    Chris Bracey was the legendary light artist from God's Own Junkyard, founded by his father Richard. Chris died in 2014 and the business was taken over by his wife Linda and sons Marcus, Matthew and Max Bracey.

STATUES IN LONDON OF ENGLISH MONARCHS      By royal appointment, I hereby present my photos of London's public statues of Kings and Queens - together with some of their quirks and quotes.       I have fully listed all English  (latterly British) Kings and Queens  since the Norman Conquest , including those not deemed worthy of a statue. I've also included some earlier monarchs who do have statues . Unless otherwise stated, the statues are all in public places or places with free admission.      I have to confess that AI has been shamefully plundered  for my pen pictures ; but then many of our royals were shameful plunderers. I also used ChatGPT to sub the whole magnum opus.    Glasgow Street Art        A few days after my Brighton break I found myself in another place awash with fine street art - and the only major UK city I'd never visited before . The 'summer' weather in Glasgow was even wetter and colder than in Brighton. But that didn't put me off; and I was never far from a Wetherspoons when the rain (and hail) showers threatened.      Using one of those quaint old paper street maps marked with a route plotted from streetartcities.com is a good way to get under the skin of a city, often away from the obvious tourist spots.       Where better to start than with archetypal Glaswegian  Rab C. Nesbitt, played by Gregor Fisher since 1988.
